I joined Antora to make a meaningful impact for our climate and to learn what it takes to build a scaling climate tech company. Since I joined in September 2023, our company grew from 60 to 130 people. We raised a $150 million Series B to mitigate climate change for the future of humanity.
Our projects have the ability to reduce 0.5 GT emissions, or 1% of global emissions, by 2030. Impact ✔️. Learning through growing pains, ✔️. I was the 6th hire for our commercial team led by one of our co-founders.
I frequently get questions about how things are going here and what I’ve learned. I wanted to synthesize and share learnings from Antora Energy so far.
I hope this first hand account and takeaways on the ground floor of commercializing climatetech helps others interested in working or investing in the space. In some ways, this journey was not what I expected. In others, the learning experience is exactly what I intended. Here, I document my learnings from:
Commercializing climate tech: getting over green premiums
Personal learnings as an operator
What I’ve learned from Antora’s co founders and building culture
Fun tidbits on decarbonization (for example, investors bonuses being tied to emission reductions and coal communities)
